Description
A delightful and easy-to-make Fresh Cherry Cobbler Recipe featuring tart or sweet fresh cherries with a buttery biscuit-like topping. This cobbler is perfect for any occasion and pairs wonderfully with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Ingredients
2 cups sour cherries, pitted (or substitute with sweet cherries, adjusting sugar)
1/2 cup butter
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar, divided
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (for tossing with cherries)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the butter in a 9×13-inch baking dish and melt it in the oven for about 5 minutes.
In a medium bowl, combine flour, 3/4 cup sugar, and baking powder. Stir to combine, then add the milk and mix to create a smooth batter.
Once the butter is melted, pour the batter into the dish over the melted butter. Do not stir.
Toss the cherries with 1 tablespoon of flour and 3/4 cup sugar, then evenly spread the cherries on top of the batter. Do not stir.
Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
Let cool slightly before serving. Optionally, top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
